I would really like to thank all of you that replied. Actually from all the replies together (which were more than what we got from sun, oracle, and netapp) I found the problem and had nothing to do with hardware! The problem was actually lockd(). For some reason network team was not allowing lockd traffic between the two systems. with a truss and some snooping,it was obvious that some problem was going on iwth the net traffic, changed the ACL and it worked fine.
