Dear Managers, Summary: 1. Did normal jumpstart with patching and SDS packages ( no meta devices configuration) 2. Ran flarcreate and created the image. 3. Jumpstarted new system using the image and configured meta devices in the finish script. Conclusion: In my view for Sol 8 create flash image (with SDS) and configure the meta divices on the new system after the flash install. Regards San Managers, So far I have received some valuable inputs from the managers: Suresh Bangalore, No SPAM, Michael Hocke, Cole William, Jeff Dinisco, Bernd Schemmer, bhuber, Polachak Jason, Hirchert Dale L and general concern is not to do with meta devices. But as per managers who sucessfully done this I followed their steps: In my finish script 1. I am zeroing out /a/etc/lvm/md.cf and /a/etc/lvm/mddb.cf files 2. Creating /a/etc/vfstab and /a/etc/system files w/o meta reference. Now it goes pass the previous step but complains that c1t0d0s0 ( my / partion) is not this type file system and /etc/passwd file is in use therefore root password can't be set now. Also read only file system. The image I am using came from the same system (v240 jumpstarted w/o flash install, patched and meta devices setup during the JS and system was stable when I created the flash image). Has anyone else sucessfully JS flash installed with meta ( mirrored devices) device image ? Thanks San Dear Managers, I have a problem with my JS/Flash install. I have no problem with my JS but this is my first attempt with Flash install. I have created a compressed system image ( a stable Sol 8 with meta devices) using flarcreat command. JS installs fine using flash image, but problem starts during the reboot: Installing boot information - Installing boot blocks (c1t0d0s0) Installation log location - /a/var/sadm/system/logs/install_log (before reboot) - /var/sadm/system/logs/install_log (after reboot) Flash installation complete Executing JumpStart postinstall phase... Executing finish script "Finish_scripts/v240-2048mb-flash-inst.driver"... Starting finish script: clean_temp_files.sh Finish script Finish_scripts/v240-2048mb-flash-inst.driver execution completed. The finish script log 'finish.log' is located in /var/sadm/system/logs after reboot. Sep 6 23:13:34 rpcbind: rpcbind terminating on signal. syncing file systems... done rebooting... My questions are; 1. My imgae was created from meta a system that has meta devices, therefore do I have to install SDS pakages before the reboot? 2. Can JS install from the compressed image or do I have to use un-compressed imgae? 3. Has anyone come accross this before? I will summarize Thanks San Thanks _______________________________________________ sunmanagers mailing list sunmanagers@sunmanagers.org http://www.sunmanagers.org/mailman/listinfo/sunmanagersReceived on Wed Sep 14 08:10:50 2005
