Thanks each and every who send me suggestions... I got this suggestion from Mr Xu Ying which solved my problem.. You need to make sure that you have correct netmask. If the other servers have broadcast of 10.200.17.255. Your netmask should be 255.255.255.0 (ffffff00). You could change both netmask and broadcast from command line: Ifconfig eri1 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast + up Hi all, I have a strange problem...i have sunfire v240 box and when i ran ifconfig -a command its showing wrong broadcast address eri1: flags=1000843<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,MULTICAST,IPv4> mtu 1500 index 3 inet 10.200.17.140 netmask fffffe00 broadcast 10.255.255.255 ether 0:3:ba:a2:44:3 the rest of the servers which are the same network showing broadcast as 10.200.17.255...... i tried changing broadcast address by assining the ipaddress again and with ifconfig <int> broadcast <broadcast> ... i checked the /etc/netmasks the netmask is 255.255.254.0 only... but those are not working..can anyone tell me command to change broadcast with out rebooting the box I will post summary Thanks in advance _______________________________________________ sunmanagers mailing list sunmanagers@sunmanagers.org http://www.sunmanagers.org/mailman/listinfo/sunmanagersReceived on Tue Aug 23 18:04:18 2005
