Just for a summary of what I have so far:

The best so far is quite a detailed work instruction for quad boot on
http://www.sun.com/bigadmin.
Search for "quad boot" and
click on the third entry in the list. It is this

http://onesearch.sun.com/search/clickthru?qt=quad+boot&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.s
un.com%2Fbigadmin%2Fcontent%2Fsubmitted%2Fquad_boot_article.pdf&pathInfo=%2Fo
nesearch%2Findex.jsp&hitNum=3&col=support-bigadmin

It's really detailed and answered some of my hesitations when doing the
intallations.

Other recommendations are

- Use a dedicated machine for Solaris
- Use a dedicated disk for Solaris
(This advise I also got from colleagues but I AM STUBBORN AS HELL).

Plus some links where I can search for more (but it's along search)

May be you can install grub without linux see :
http://www.gnu.org/software/grub/grub.html
but I used Ranissh boot manager

usefull links :
http://multiboot.solaris-x86.org/
http://solaris-x86.org/

Nothing so far about recovering partitions lost.
