I commented out the following entries from /etc/inetd.conf netbios-ssn stream tcp nowait /usr/local/samba/bin/smbd smbd netbios-ns dgram udp wait /usr/local/samba/bin/nmbs nmbd Then I kill -HUP <inetd pid> The errors went away. Oh, and I'm running Samba as a Daemon (smbd -D) from now on too. Cheers Craig.
