My sincere apology for this very late summary. The project was canceled and not until now did it come up again. Many thanks to the following people on suggestions how to best move my mirrored OS from one system to another where the device names don't match up. From: Truhn Chad M CONT DLVA <TruhnCM@NSWC.NAVY.MIL> From: "Dell, Mary" <mdell@mesirowfinancial.com> From: rossman@columbia.edu From: David Flores <dflores@smi-ps.com> Mary Dell's suggestion was the simplest and easiest to perform. It goes like this: o break all mirrors (the c0t8d0 pieces) metadetach d0 d2 metadetach d10 d12 metadetach d30 d32 metadetach d40 d42 metadetach d50 d52 o metaclear all mirrors (the c0t8d0 pieces) metaclear d2 metaclear d12 metaclear d32 metaclear d42 metaclear d52 o delete the metastate database on the c0t8d0s7 device metadb -d /dev/dsk/c0t8d0s7 o halt the system on the Sun 250 o remove the 2 disks and install them in the new Sun 220 o boot the Sun 220 o create metastate databases on the second disk /dev/dsk/c0t1d0s7 metadb -c 3 -a c0t1d0s7 o initialize and re-attach the d2, d12, d32, d42 and d52 pieces o reboot to finalize all This procedure, as recommended by Mary, worked like a charm ! Many thanks again.
