Several people suggested the following which did fix the problem: You need to ensure you have the following service running out of inetd: 100155/1 tli rpc/ticotsord wait root /usr/lib/smedia/rpc.smserverd rpc.smserverd I had a modified inetd.conf, which excluded this line. After adding and kill -1 on inetd process, and restarting vold... everything works as expected. Thanks again.. this is a great list!
