Thanks to all who replied. Here's my original post: Hi all, I'm working on setting up backup for my new Solaris boxes. Is there a way to script backup to take the system down from init level 3 to single-user mode and run the ufsdump on /, /var, /usr, and so on? I think that root's password for getting into single user mode is stopping me. Any help is greatly appreciated. I will summarize. Thanks, The synthesis of all my replies is that I do not need to go down to single user mode to accomplish my backup. My only hang up was the web-server that interacts with a database that resides on the box that I am wanting to backup. I'll just take the network interface down while backup is being run to avoid problems. Again, thanks to all who responded. -- Alan Carbutt Systems Administrator/Programmer Adams State College 719-587-7741 arcarbut@adams.edu [demime 1.01b removed an attachment of type application/pgp-signature which had a name of signature.asc] _______________________________________________ sunmanagers mailing list sunmanagers@sunmanagers.org http://www.sunmanagers.org/mailman/listinfo/sunmanagersReceived on Fri Aug 27 11:25:37 2004
