SUMMARY: XVR-100 graphics card in DVI mode

Only got a reply from one guru, but Dan put me on the right track.

The solution was to connect the monitor with both the DSUB and DVI
cables to the XVR-100 video card and to edit the line that starts the Xsun 
process in the /etc/dt/config/Xservers file.  With the absence of this file,

it was necessary to copy the /usr/dt/config/Xservers file to the /etc path 
and edit as follows:

Change

:0 Local local_uid@console root /usr/openwin/bin/Xsun :0 -nobanner

to

:0 Local local_uid@console root /usr/openwin/bin/Xsun -dev /dev/fbs/pfb0b

Now when the machine is booting, I get the console through the analog 
cable and when CDE starts, the monitor senses the digital input and
switches automatically.

I have a SunBlade 2000 running Solaris 8.  I recently acquired a 20" flat
panel ViewSonic monitor which has both analog(DSUB) and digital(DVI) 
inputs. When the monitor is connected using the analog cable  to the 
DSUB connector on my XVR-100 card, I have full console and CDE use, 
but when I connect with the digital cable to the DVI connector I get 
nothing at all.  Now from everything I've read, I should not expect to see 
console data.  My question and concern is why the Xserver (CDE) is not 
starting at the appropriate time during the boot.  Perhaps somebody can 
point me to the correct way to do this, if indeed it can be done.  There is 
a setting on the monitor which I changed but this did not help and the 
installation manual for the video card hasn't been any help either.
