Thanks to Richard Cooke who provided me with details of an ap to browse NTFS shares on solaris. xSMBrowser http://www.public.iastate.edu/~chadspen/xsmbrowser.html It's an overlay for samba but does not use SMBFS, so unlike samba will allow solaris to browse NTFS. Thanks Richard. You can't use samba to access pc shares with solaris. This only works with Linux. An alternative product is sharity http://www.obdev.at/products/sharity/ apparently cups can access pc shared printers by using smbspool ( I haven't got it working yet). I'm trying to mount NT shares and printers on my Solaris box, I can find plenty of documentation to do the opposite but information seems to be scarce on using samba as a client. For reference, I'm using solaris 9 4/04 on blade 1500. The NT systems are all Win2k on a domain ( not workgroup ) . Want to uses NT printers with CUPS.
