Hi Gurus,

I'd like to thank the following for their response for my post, I appreciate
all of your quick responses:

Jacob Rieper
Kevin S Secor
Lewis Handy
Glen Ippolito
Warren Powell

I do apologize if I've missed anyone.

I got replies which can be summarized as below:
- It is better to mirror using Disksuite since recovery is easier.
- Mirroring by anyone of the applications can be performed after
encapluslating.

I'm going ahead with using Disksuite to Mirror my root disk and Veritas for
managing the rest of my storage.

My original post is as follows:

Hi Gurus,

I'm in the process of creating a alternate boot disk on my Sun E450 with
Solaris 9, I'd appreciate if you can let me know what is the right procedure
to create an alternate boot disk.
I've been going through the web and came across two different options.
1. Mirror the boot disk using Veritas Volume manager after encapsulating it.
http://unixway.com/vm/veritasvm/mirroros.html
2. Mirror the boot disk using Veritas Volume manager after initializing the
disk to which the data is to mirrored and then initializing the source disk.
http://unixway.com/vm/veritasvm/rootdg.html#howard
3. Mirror the boot disk using Solstice Disk Suite
http://unixway.com/vm/disksuite/mirroros.html

I'd appreciate if you can let me know which one of the above in your
experiences is the best method to achieve my task or if there any better
procedures to do the mirror.

Regards,

Sudhakar
