Thanks to Clive McAdam and Hichael Morton. To quote Hichael : cpu indicates which die is used to create the cpu. die = pattern the cpu mask does not effect the opperation of anything. the sun field engineer was correct in saying this is normal. (sun only looks at part numbers when replacing parts.) it is for you to decide if you are just paranoid. --- Sebastien DAUBIGNE sdaubigne@bordeaux-bersol.sema.slb.com <mailto:sdaubigne@bordeaux-bersol.sema.slb.com> - (+33)5.57.26.56.36 SchlumbergerSema - SGS/DWH/Pessac -----Message d'origine----- De: DAUBIGNE Sebastien - BOR ( SDaubigne@bordeaux-bersol.sema.slb.com ) [SMTP:SDaubigne@bordeaux-bersol.sema.slb.com] Date: jeudi 11 dicembre 2003 17:36 @: sunmanagers@sunmanagers.org Objet: CPU Mask Meaning ? What is the meaning of the prtdiag's 'CPU Mask' value on a E6500 ? Recently, one of our CPU died and was replaced by Sun. After next reboot, the "CPU Mask" of the replaced CPU changed from "10.0" to "1.0". I ask the tech. if this is normal, and he says he used the same Part Number for the replaced CPU module, so it is normal. But I'm still suspicious about this. Here is the prtdiag output (CPU have mirrored E-cache) : System Configuration: Sun Microsystems sun4u 16-slot Sun Enterprise E6500 System clock frequency: 80 MHz Memory size: 26112Mb ========================= CPUs ========================= Run Ecache CPU CPU Brd CPU Module MHz MB Impl.
