SUMMARY: How to check if tape is write-protected ?

Unfortunally nobody suggested _working_ way of checking if the tape
in the streamer is write-protected. SOme suggested to do 
'mt status' and it should write to the stdout that tape is
write-protected but in doesn't work in my case.
