Question: I have a Sun Ultra 1 which I cannot boot. After power up the post information is displayed as follows: Sun Ultra 1 SBus (UltraSPARC 167MHz), No Keyboard OpenBoot 3.5, 128 MB memory installed, Serial #8828534. Ethernet address 8:0:20:86:b6:76, Host ID: 8086b676. and the memory initialised and then nothing. If I go into OpenBoot and run OK boot cdrom to boot off a Solaris install CD the same happens. There are no errors regarding boot failures. I'm sure I just missing something obvious, does anyone have ideas what it is? Resolution: David Glass suggested that I check the memory so I removed two of the memory sticks and then the Ultra1 booted. Re-seated the removed memory and the Ultra1 now booted correctly with the full amount of memory. I am presuming that one or the memory sticks became dislodged in transit and then as the memory was initialised it did not complete this process and the unit locked up. David - thanks for the suggestion. Simon.
