Hi Guys, I really appreciate the responses I received from Randy Romero, Bertrand_Hutin, Dennis Martens, Darren Dunham, John Warr, and Rick Caldwell. Because of my lack of experience in this area, Darren confirmed for me a few pieces of ground-floor knowledge - such as when you set the SCSI ID for the drives at the tape library, those are the ID's you should be seeing in the probe-scsi-all output. Bottom line is, I had the Quantum Guy out here to go through the library wiring and sure enough, he found a bad ribbon cable leading from the last 2 drives (which are chained together) leading to the connector into which I would connect the cable that goes to the E450. So, we're in business now, and I can access all drives with aplomb. :-) Thanks, all! deb %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% At 09:18:02, on 09.29.03: Cracks in my tinfoil beanie allowed someone to seep these bits into my brain: > Hi, > > New to the list here.
