Dear Guru and Gurettes, Thank you all for your kind help on this matter. The short answer is YES, but with limitations. Christopher Wilkinson had the Gold Star reply... yes, it will be recognized. allthough the way veritas will handle the license does depend on the version of vxvm you use. please tell us about the version of a software ( AND OS ) if you post your questions! by the way: you will not be able to do a striped pro ( raid 1+0 ) on your internal disks if you only use the photon license. of course you still will be able to build up a rootdg and mirror your root devices. I already have Veritas Volume Manager software. What I was wanting to know was if the VM will automatically recognize the Photon license. I have not had to do this before so I was not sure. I did not want to purchase another license of VM if it was not necessary. I know this has been asked before, but I was unable to find a summary and the archives are currently down...sorry.
