Thanks to all who responded. Lots of folks explained that I could do this over using an X server on a PC. Of course I already knew this. I have done this in the past and found things a little bloated to running through an SSH tunnel. What I was aiming for was to go to the console of this machine and which is currently command line only and manually start up an X environment without rebooting. Rebooting wasn't an option since this is a production machine(/etc/system changed for Oracle were done some time ago.) The answer was from the command line to simply issue: $ /usr/openwin/bin/xinit /usr/dt/bin/Xsession Thanks again everyone. --- joe ritter <glestadt4@yahoo.com> wrote: > Hello, > I have a machine completely locked down - X and > Dtlogin dont start at boot time.
