Many thanks to Yura for the answer. I used lpadmin -s 155.247.27.69\!text -p lp -D "Kinkos"; lpadmin -d lp to add the printer. Worked perfectly. Some people mentioned the GUI 'admintool' too. I also discovered that I could "man printers.conf" for even more information. ====================================================================== Date: Thu, 03 Jul 2003 15:37:42 -0400 From: Yura Pismerov To: Birl Subject: Re: Solaris 9 printer installation Birl wrote: Birl> Hello gurus: Birl> Birl> First time trying to install a printer on my Solaris 9 server. Solaris 9 uses JetDirect, so the printers definitions are in /etc/printer.conf, not printcap. And I'm pretty sure it has different format. man lpadmin is good place to start. Something like "lpadmin -s 155.247.27.69!text -p lp; lpadmin -d lp" will create the necessary entries for you and set up the default print queue. But this would be for text only. If you want to print graphichs, the setup will be more complex.
