Turned out to be proprietary cables are required for the encryptor. Modem itself was working after replacing with a different model with straight through cable. Thanks to Steve Norton, Crist Clark, Darren Dunham, Luc Suryo, Bob Rahe, Randy Romero. And special thanks to Celeste Stokely for his great website resources at www.stokely.com. Actually modem is connceted to an encryptor thru null modem cable and from there a straight thru cable to modem. (which is working for a differnt system). All i can verify is i am connected to serial port, but modem itself is not responding to AT commands. May be i will get a different modem to try it. The vendor doesn't support it for unix.(it works fine with windows though) Please tell me how to ensure a modem works fine with Solaris? Checked www.stokely.com. already, which is great BTW. thanks John ----- Original Message ----- From: John Rams To: sunmanagers@sunmanagers.org Sent: Wednesday, June 04, 2003 8:02 AM Subject: Solaris8, Modem - Hayes commands not detected Trying to figure out how to make the modem responding on a E6500, Serial port B connected to an external modem(V .92) with a null modem cable.
