Hi all, apologies for the late summary on this. Thanks to everybody that took the time to reply. The general opinion was that I needed to obtain the original o/s cd's used for the system install, and then boot off them. Many thanks go to Darren Dunham who helped me boot the system without the o/s cd's. Basically I had corrupted /etc/system & /etc/vfstab, with the help of Darren I managed to boot the system by using boot -ab at the ok prompt and then using /dev/null instead of /etc/system, this then booted the system to a command prompt, but I had to remount / as read writable and manually mount /usr, I then fsck'd / & /usr a few times, I was then able to fix the corrupted vfstab & system files. Cheers, Barry. -----Original Message----- From: sunmanagers-bounces@sunmanagers.org [mailto:sunmanagers-bounces@sunmanagers.org]On Behalf Of Barry Sent: 28 May 2003 14:07 To: sunmanagers@sunmanagers.org Subject: Netra T1 won't boot I had problems with a Netra T1 running Solaris 8 and now it cannot boot at any run-level - I know what the problem is and how to fix it once I can get into the system. Unfortunately there is only 1 cd with Solaris on it and when I try to boot from it I get the following error: boot device: /cdrom File and args: -v Size: 344168+88153+61591 Bytes krtld: load_exec: fail to expand cpu/$CPU krtld: error during initial load/link phase panic - boot: exitto64 returned from client program Program terminated ok >From what I've read on the above error message my understanding is that the kernel does not recognise the hardware that I'm attempting to boot. Apparently (from what I've read on BigAdmin) the hardware is newer, but the cd is trying to load an older operating environment. I've been informed that the cd is a copy of what was used for the original installation of the machine. Any ideas on how I can boot the machine would be greatly appreciated. TIA for any replies. _______________________________________________ sunmanagers mailing list sunmanagers@sunmanagers.org http://www.sunmanagers.org/mailman/listinfo/sunmanagers _______________________________________________ sunmanagers mailing list sunmanagers@sunmanagers.org http://www.sunmanagers.org/mailman/listinfo/sunmanagersReceived on Mon Jun 2 05:52:49 2003
