Got an answer that makes sense. Thanks to Jay Lessert and Frank Smith. The problem was with my own understanding of netstat -i. I now understand that it shows data since the last boot. (yes, I should have known this. I also should have noticed the errors and collisions were not growing) The number of errors and collisions has NOT increased since the system was set on the fly to 100fdx and has not been rebooted since. etc/system has the correct entries to retain after a reboot. These errors are left over from when the system was still at 10hdx. Thank you. Original message... Hello managers I am having a problem on one of my servers. It is a SUN Ultra-60, running Solaris 8 2/02 revision -17. The problem is this... The output from netstat is showing a high number of Oerrs. and collisions. As I am rather new to system administration I am not sure where to begin looking for a problem. Any suggestions would be appreciated, especially helpful would be a reference or link to a troubleshooting guide of some kind. Thank you in advance. Output from netstat...
