Thanks to Amaresh, Ben Green, Vincent for quick help. It turned out be Oracle Intelli agent process 'dbsnmp' hogging several GB of memory. Special thanks to Ben Green for pointing out this as a known bug and availability of oracle 9.2 patches from Metalink. Other useful ways to figure out to use 'top', 'lsof', /usr/bin/ps -el (and other options ps -e -o vsz, osz, user, comm) -----Original Message----- Subject: Swap Filling up: /tmp full on a E4500 the problem has been caused by swap being filled up resulting in /tmp full mesasge. (WARNING: /tmp: File system full, swap space limit exceeded) System has huge amount of physical memory and swap available aroung 8 Gb. My question is how would i identify what process is causing this and clean up without having to reboot. Suspecting oracle shared memory ? Any other ideas?
