Thank you all for the quick answers, the problem was caused by the entry /usr/sbin/quota in the /etc/profile file. Since we don't use quotas, i don't need this entry. Special thanks to Ed Rolison, his email: When I've seen this problem, the root cause has been 'quota'. As it runs on first login, it checks to see if a user is over quota, even if they don't have one. I've seen situations where it can take a very long time to do so. Try (as one of these users) to run 'quota' and see how long it takes to complete. I'm not sure what to suggest if that is the source of the problem, other than remote it from /etc/profile. The system is running Solaris 8. The user settings appear to be ok. I don't think the problem as something to do with the environment files like .profile or .kshrc (they are deleted and it behaves on the same way) regards Ramiro _______________________________________________ sunmanagers mailing list sunmanagers@sunmanagers.org http://www.sunmanagers.org/mailman/listinfo/sunmanagersReceived on Wed Mar 12 12:21:45 2003
