Thanks to all that replied. It looks like our mail server is not resolvable via DNS outside of our domain and that's the reason we are not being responded to by the remote mail server. My original question is below. Original question: Managers, I am attempting to send mail to a user at foo.com. When I send a message from my domain, I have trouble establishing a connection with the remote mail server. I get the following when using sendmail with the -v flag: user@foo.com... Connecting to mailman.foo.com. via esmtp... user@foo.com... Connecting to smtp.foo.com. via esmtp... user@foo.com... Deferred: Connection timed out with smtp.foo.com. It tries each remote server (mailman.foo.com and smtp.foo.com) for several minutes before timing out. If I send an email from another server outside of my domain, everything works fine. Could it be that my domain is being filtered out and rejected at the remote site? Please send me your ideas on what the problem might be. Thank you, and will summarize. --Darryl _______________________________________________ sunmanagers mailing list sunmanagers@sunmanagers.org http://www.sunmanagers.org/mailman/listinfo/sunmanagersReceived on Fri Mar 7 14:32:25 2003
