Wow! Thanks to everyone who responded so quickly! This is a wonderful resource. Let's get on with the summary... Thanks to: o Paul Frederiksen o Ed Kerekes o Jay Lessert o Steve Mickeler o Jesse Trucks The consensus was that because my root disk is not encapsulated or controlled by volume manager, this is a "relatively easy and straight forward" process. I should be able to perform the upgrade in the manner I described in my question. I was directed to the following URLs: <http://www.eng.auburn.edu/pub/mail-lists/ssastuff/upgrade.html> http://www.eng.auburn.edu/pub/mail-lists/ssastuff/upgrade.html <http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/182200.htm> http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/182200.htm Thanks again. Cheers, Christian ORIGINAL POST: I am planning on upgrading my E450 server running Solaris 2.6 and Volume Manager 2.6 to Solaris 8 and 3.5 respectively. My OS disks are mirrored with DiskSuite and the rest of my arrays are configured with Volume Manager. My question is, after I break my DiskSuite mirrors, upgrade the OS to Solaris 8 and recreate the mirrors, can I just upgrade my Volume Manager software to 3.5 without touching my Volume Manager configuration? IOW, after the Volume Manager upgrade, will my Volume Manager disks just......work? Please be gentle....my first question posted to this group..... Regards, Christian Christian P.
