Many people have told me what to do and/or where to find documentation. My thanks to you all. The results: -starting with Solaris-8 much information can be found with "man scsa2usb". and also on the web at http://docs.sun.com/db/doc/806-0636/6j9vq2bth?a=view. The site offered more interesting documents. -Wallimann Stefan told me that the logging (/var/adm/messages) and the command "iostat -En" could show me how the USB device was named when I plugged it in. I could then mount it with: mount -F pcfs /dev/dsk/c1t0d0s2:c /mountpoint That worked. A 'df' command showed the mounted USB stick. -Wout Mertens told me about an entry in the mtoolsrc: drive u: file="/dev/rdsk/c1t0d0s0" partition=1 sync That did not work, but probably my mtools version (3.9.6) predates the wide use of USB devices. I still have some problems with it now. But I know now where to look for solutions.
