Fabrice Gueniri came in first with /etc/release to find out what was
installed. The text there looks like:
                       Solaris 8 10/00 s28s_u2wos_11b SPARC
Copyright 2000 Sun Microsystems, Inc. All Rights Reserved.
                            Assembled 31 August 2000

to those who are interested.

Chandrasekhar Kalle also said to just go to sunsolve.sun.com, click on
patches, recommended patch clusters, and grab the big patch cluster for
Solaris 8. The Netra is a sun4u architecture, and that's what matters.

Thanks also to wuming, Richard Skelton, Jonas Bleberg, John Riddoch, and
Dale Hirchert for their quick and accurate replies. Original message is
below.

Folks,

I've just booted up a Netra T1 I've had on the shelf for a while, and I want
to get the patches up to date. I've gone the to fine PathPro Interactive
page off patchpro.sun.com / sunsolve. They have a neat way to get patch
bundle based on your release, but it's on "Solaris 8 10/01 MU6", and I don't
remember what the Netra came installed with. (Solaris 8, obviously, but not
the follow on part.)

Also, in the platform dropdown, they don't have Netras, I just noticed.
They have Ultra, Sunblades, Enterprise, and PC, but not Netra. Bummer.

So, while I'd like to know how to find out the specific solaris install, I'd
also like to know the best way to grab bunches of patches if you don't have
a sunsolve account. Thanks for the help.
