Hello Everyone, Short Version of my quesion: need to replace an (external) hd on an Ultra 1. I forgot to mention that it was external in the original post. Summary: The answers were GREAT, and fast. THANKS! In short I _think_ all the drives I listed _should_ work. The only real concern is HEAT. I failed to mention that this was a disk in an external case. So, in this case heat will not be a concern. I will recommend the ST318438LW, the 7200rpm unit. It's cheaper and will generate less heat. There's lots of good info in the replies, including a pointer to sun supported drives. I've listed the original message with the replies below. Special thanks to Hichael Morton, Allan West, and Dirk Jansen for their replies. odk -- Oscar D.
