Hi, Thanks to the list for the many replies on my query. The majority of the replies I received recommended www.antares.com Another recommended Direct Midrange www.directmidrange.com Here is a excerpt from Hans Schaechl: ---------------------------------------- The 6541A is a SymbiosLogic PCI card. Symbios is now LSI Logic. It runs a 53c876 controller on it. Sun itself labelled the card Symbios SYM22802 in its system handbook. See SCSI_Diff_UltraSCSI_PCI.01.gif The same card from LSI direct is named LSI22802, you can find more information about it at http://www.lsilogic.com/products/stor_prod/hba/scsi/ultra/index.html or check out the following infos: lsi22802big.jpg and lsi22802.pdf ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -------- A couple/few folks explained that not only are there MANY instances of ADAPTEC and LSI cards being used on live E450's, but that LSI does indeed provide tech support for their SCSI controllers on Sparc architectures. Thanks to the list, Rich ##################ORIGINAL MESSAGE################################ Hi, I need to install an High Voltage Differential SCSI Controller onto our Ultra E-450. Sun's X6541A runs for over $1,000.00. I know you can buy these used for anywhere between 500.00 and 750.00 But we'd still like a cheaper alternative(200.00 - 300.00, thereabouts). I know that Adaptec and LSI don't technically support anything that'd be installed on anything but an Intel platform. But -----I think----- that there've been people who've made these work on architectures such as Sparc. Does anyone have any success stories with regard to installing a Non-Sun-Microsystems Differential SCSI Controller card on a Sparc platform? _______________________________________________ sunmanagers mailing list sunmanagers@sunmanagers.org http://www.sunmanagers.org/mailman/listinfo/sunmanagersReceived on Fri Aug 16 11:53:41 2002
