SUMMARY: open file descriptors

Thanks to all.

Parameters to set are:
rlim_fd_max
rlim_fd_cur

general consensus was that 1024 for max was ok but be
wary of going beyond that. Some users I have seen
have went to 4096 and seem to be ok, but I suppose it
is a matter of what binaries you choose to execute in
your environment.

Subject: open file descriptors

I'm running solaris 8 and want to increase descriptors from 256
to 1024 to accomodate and oracle database. What parameters do I set in
/etc/system and are there any drawbacks/considerations.
