Dear SUN Managers, it turns out that I was required to boot off Operating Environment CD dated Feb 2000 or Sep 99. I was trying with an older one dated Nov 97. Booting off OE CD Feb 2000 solved my problem. Document ID 20576 on sunsolve.com clearly pointed me to the right direction. Thanks a lot to all those people who tried helping me : Gary Mulder Pierre Zimmerman Suresh Kakkar Tony Walsh Darren Dunham The original posting was : I have a U10 440 Mhz workstation running Solaris 2.5.1 11/97. In my absence, somebody tried to re-load Solaris 2.5.1 11/97 without using the Operating Environment CD provided for that. Now what is happening is that, when we try to boot off the Operating Enviroment CD, we get the following message : Bad magic number in disk label Can't open disk label package Evaluating: boot cdrom Can't open boot device If we try to boot off the Solaris 2.5.1 11/97 CD directly, then it displays 50 echoes for just one letter typed. boot cdrom -sw boot -s both have problems. The part number for the Op Env CD I am using is 704-5950-10 REV A (Nov , 1997). Thanks, Mira ___________________________________________________ GO.com Mail Get Your Free, Private E-mail at http://mail.go.com _______________________________________________ sunmanagers mailing list sunmanagers@sunmanagers.org http://www.sunmanagers.org/mailman/listinfo/sunmanagersReceived on Fri Mar 29 17:00:42 2002
