I had ton of replies to the question: Is there anyway to have Solaris accept and interpret more than 8 character passwords? The answer is the only way that you can achieve this is to replace the password command with something that would not use the crypt function to encrypt the passwords for Solaris. A suggestion was to go to MD5 type hashes for generating passwords like are supported in npasswd. A few suggestions also came through to armor access to the servers by allowing SSH only and not allowing telnet. Needless to say. I was disappointed to find this answer. Thank You to everyone that replied. _______________________________________________ sunmanagers mailing list sunmanagers@sunmanagers.org http://www.sunmanagers.org/mailman/listinfo/sunmanagersReceived on Tue Jan 29 08:53:22 2002
