Thanks to all who speedily replied! What I've found is an Ultra
SPARC-II 300Mhz processor. It would work in several machines. =20

The most detailed report on the module was from L. Bryan Moore:
----
You are the proud owner of a 300MHz UltraSPARC II Module with 2MB cache
fitting the following machines:
Ultra 2
Ultra 30
Ultra 60
Ultra 450
Enterprise 250
Enterprise 450
Netra t 1120
Netra t 1125
Netra ft 1800

Some notes:
The minimum operating system is Solaris 2.5.1.
Ultra 2 OBP 3.7v0 and CPU >=3D501-3132-07 is required.
UPA Terminator 501-4843 is required if only one module is installed on
Ultra
2 CPU <=3D501-3132-12.
Jumper J2301 on Ultra 2 system board 501-3132 may need to be adjusted
for
the 300MHz module.
Modules <=3D501-4849-02 are not compatible with the Ultra 60.
UltraSPARC II revision 1.1 is not compatible with the Netra ft 1800.
Mixing module speeds is not supported.
The Ultra 450 and Enterprise 450 require DC-DC Converter 300-1322.
Option X2240A includes a Module and DC-DC Converter 300-1322.

Also, very good information from several people on dissecting Sun Part
Numbers:

"If you are intrested, the way to find out board types of kit that you
are unsure of is to find the number starting with 501 (usually), or
that follows the format xxx-xxxx-<junk>, as only the first 7 digits
identifiy the board."
----
And finally, one refence to a site that has lots of good sun details on
it, including quite possibly the best part-number listing for sun gear
anywhere:

"2) But my favorite is always www.sunstuff.org.. a labor of love. (AND
he
appreciates submissions!)"
----
Thank you everyone!

Pete

> Digging though a box of miscellaneous Sun parts I've found what
appears to be a processor module. I don't know what it goes to, or what
speed it is. We have a E450, Netra i, & E-250, along with 3 boxes of
"junk" that we recently "inhereted". Of course, no manuals or
documentation on anything. Taking off the beige plastic cover reveals
nothing informative. Here are the numbers shown on the module...
>=20
> Back of PCB, on white bar code label: 4849D013671
> Back of PCB, on orange bar code label: 5014849193441
> Stenciled on PCB, on back left edge: 270-4253-05 REV 50 YWP-C 94V-O
>=20
> On the silver rectangular bracket thing that covers the back side of
the processor, are listed the following items on a white sticker:

> 4849-03  2M
> REV 61   181999

> ASSEMBLED IN CANADA
>=20
> Anyone know what this is?
