SUMMARY: gcc & default PERL in Solaris 8

Thanks to all that responsed,

I found the best way is to have leave SUN's supplied perl alone, and
get a gcc compiled PERL instead as per:

 http://www.science.uva.nl/pub/solaris/solaris2/Q3.74.html

I gotten perl 5.6.1, gdbm & db  from Sunfreeware... works fine. CPAN
modules compile and work fine now.
