I got lots of responses promptly. Thanks for following people who offered me
kindly helps:

Christophe Dupre
Henrik Mortensen
Jona Sperty
Ray McCaffity
Angel R Rivera
Mark McManus
John Martinez
Scott Kulp
Farzad Hejazi
Don Harris

All people agree that 64 bit is suported because the processor is UltraSPARC
I.

Most people believe that I need to reinstall the Solaris 2.8 if 64bit mode
is not installed in the first place. Some think no reinstallation is needed.
All agree that /platform/sun4u/boot.conf file need to be edited to uncomment
"ALLOW_64BIT_KERNEL_ON_UltraSPARC1_CPU=true".
Since I don't have many application installed yet, to play safe, I
reinstalled Solaris 2.8 and edited the boot.conf file. Now when I run
"isainfo -v" and get the following output:
64-bit sparcv9 applications
32-bit sparc applications
Thanks again for the helps.
