SUMMARY: Flashing CD-ROM

Thanks to the many replies, but the problem seems to be a bad CD-ROM drive
(see original question below). Among the suggested solutions I tried were:
- stopping / restarting vold
- checking for any processes attempting to access CD
- check for bad/music/non-data CD in drive

Sun is sending a replacement drive; now I just need to find a time when I
will be able to swap it....

Thanks,

Gurus,

I have a 250 box running Solaris 2.6 that has a problem with the CD-ROM
drive. The light on the drive is flashing continuously, but there is no cd
in the drive. I've had this happen once before on a different box, and a
reboot fixed it; however this machine is a 24x7 box and cannot be
rebooted. Does anyone have any ideas that I can try?

Thanks,
Thomas Carter
