SUMMARY: Scsi on E420R - what kind?

Hi all,

Thanks for all the replies. I recieved over 2 dozen! Thanks
to everyone.

The overwhelming consensus is that the only SCSI on a Sun that
will be differential is one that's added on (i.e. an SBus or PCI
card). There are NO onboard scsi's that are differential.

Also, it looks like the X6541A PCI card is the way to go.

Thanks again to everyone. I truly appreciate the help.

Hi all,

I've got an Enterprise 420R that I want to attach a StorageTek L20 tape
library
to. The L20 has differential SCSI. Problem is that I don't know what type of
SCSI the 420R has.

I connected the L20 to the 420 and the Sun doesn't see the library, or the
2 DLT drives in it. StorageTek seems to think that the Sun must not have
a differential SCSI connection on it. I can't prove or disprove that
statement.

Does anyone know 1) is it differential or not, or 2) how do I determine
whether
it's a differential SCSI or not?

If it's not differential SCSI does anyone know who would have the cheapest
price on an X6541A scsi card for the 420? Sun's price is $1400. My boss will
flip out on me if I tell him I need to spend another grand to get this
working.

Thanks!
