SUMMARY: Correction Hitachi Disk lun seen as wrong size

Thanx to Peter Stokes for the almost instantaneous correct answer.

dd if=/some/trivial/file of=/dev/rdsk/cXtXdXs2

                                 ^^^^

After this I just format and label the disk (lun) again.

I also removed the links and re-ran drvconfig and disks - just to be sure,
though I don't know if it was realy needed.

And also because I had already previously added the wrong-sized disk to a
disk-group in vxvm, I removed it before I did all this, and after it was
happy, added it back again.

Voila, QED.

P.S. Someone asked a similar question - how to corrupt a disk - about a
week ago, on this list. DUH on me for not realising this is such a similar
question!

Hi,

It happens regularly that when the Hitachi guys set up a new LUN for me,
Solaris "sees" it as the wrong size. It would seem that this is when the
first allocation unit had previously been a first allocation unit of a LUN
previously used by Solaris.

Can anybody confirm that this could happen, and could anybody please tell
me how to "wipe" this false disk header off the disk so that Solaris will
recognize the new lun correctly, preferably without the need for rebooting.

Thanx in advance,
  _Johan
