Apparently several users had the same problem, judging by the number of
people who wanted to know if I solved this.
By the time I got my first response I had stumbled across the solution.
Way down at the end of the README this problem is mentioned, and Sun's
suggestion was to mount the CD manually, which worked, but seemed like a
pretty lame solution.
As a test I restored /etc/rrmount from a backup which solved the problem. I
kept on getting the udfs error which was solve by commenting out the line in
/etc/rmmount.conf.
The first email I got from Jed Dobson suggested this same solution.
I got several emails telling me to comment out the line, and several asking
for a summary.
Thanks to all who replied, and I hope that this works for others as well.

Volume manager launches, and the appropriate mount points are created in
/cdrom, however presumably due to the above errors nothing is visible beyond
the mount points.
I can mount the CD manually.
Anyone have a fix for this?
