Hello:
A number of you (almost 50) suggested stopping/re-starting dtlogin. I
tried that...
no luck. My server has a PCI video card, but the K/M connector is the
old-style Sun connector (not PCI) is that makes a difference.
Only a rebbot will get the mouse back. Thanks to all for your
reponses. Too bad there's not a way to accomplish this.
Thanks,
Mark
Original Question:
Hello Managers...
Here's a question I've always wondered about....
Is there a way to "wake" up a mouse that has stopped responding? I know
a quick reboot will do it, but the machine in question is a firewall
that I can't reboot except for scheduled downtime.
The problem is with the KVM switcher I'm using. It's a Raritan piece of
crap that I'll never use again. All my Suns eventually have K/M lockups
with those units. I switched some servers over to a Cybex switch, and
all is well. But I digress :)
Anyway, /dev/mouse is symlinked to some pseudo device, and the server in
question is an E250 clone, if it matters. Can I issue some sort of
command to re-init the device, or is a reboot the only solution?
TIA and I will summarize. Sorry if this is a FAQ, but a quick search of
the SunManager archives at Latech didn't turn up any results.
Mark
