Sorry for the late report and thank all of you who replied.
You made me sure, that it should work and it worked when I physically moved the
disk.
Now I'll give you some more details about original problem, may be it will be
helpfull. Here is the scenario:
I had Ultra-10 333Mhz with Sol 2.6 and I wanted to upgrade it to 440Mhz. The
down time was very critical, so I decided to copy the system to another
computer.
I booted Ultra 440mhz from Solaris-8 disk and ran "format" and "newfs" commands
for repartitions the second disk and creating file system. Then using "ufsdump
- ufsrestore" utilities I copied system from original system. After that I ran
"installboot" command to install boot block. The "ufsboot" file was from Sol
2.6, but installboot utility was from Solaris-8.
This combination was not able to boot. I was receiving error message about MMU
at the beginning of the boot process, while accessing to the boot block. Somehow
I succeded to boot from "Sol 2.6" CDROM and to install boot block from it - no
result.
So my conclusion is that Sol-8 file system can't be used for Sol-2.6.
