Thanks to Dan Lowe, David Foster, Logan Stout, and Tom Zurita.
While no one hit the exact command that was because I did not
give enough info. The suggestions were m64config and GFXconfig,
neither of which are on my system -- because I have an Elite3D
graphics accelerator. I saw the common thread though that the
commands suggested ended in config and a find in /usr of \*config led me to
afbconfig. A man on this command led me to /dev/fbs/afb0 which
confirmed that I have an Elite3D card. Also, Dan suggested xdpyinfo
to determine the color planes I was using, as suspected I am configured
for 8. I have not as of yet be able to investigate how to change
it to 24 via afbconfig.
