SUMMARY: Booting Solaris 2.6 on an Ultra5, 10, 30, 60

Solution:

Boot from Solaris 2.6 release 5/98 or higher, using the "boot cdrom" command
at the OpenBoot PROM.

I was able to boot the machine in single user mode, repair the disks and
restore the kernel thanks to this solution.

NOTE:
"Solaris Software Supplement" CD can not be booted from to solve this
problem, as some have suggested.

Many thanks to Casper Dik and others for a helpful hint and another quick
turnaround for a critical problem.
