netconf was nicely done to reconfig my box, for some reason the ifconfig
command systax worked but changed backed to the old network conf on reboot.

Depending on the distribution, you can use either:
1) Your old pal, ifconfig
2) netconfig (console application)
3) linuxconf (X application)
