Hello Managers,
Many thanks to Carlos Bernal [cbernal@fis.ulima.edu.pe]
My Original Posting was as follows.
What is the procedure to boot a solaris 2.6 machine from a cdrom
which is inserted in the remote machine cdrom-drive.?
The following procedure exactly worked for me.
0) Insert the CD, it is the installation server.
1) cd /cdrom/sol_8_sparc_2#1/Solaris_8/Tools
2) Get the client's mac address: 8:0:20:xx:yy:zz
3) Record the client in (/etc/hosts, /etc/ethers) or NIS+
4) Inscribe the client in the server
./add_install_client clientname sunXX
where:
./add_install_client name of the command to record a
new client in the server.
clientname hostname of the client
sunXX platform group
The server and client must to be in the same LAN.
After that you have to restart the nfs server.
/etc/init.d/nfs.server stop
/etc/init.d/nfs.server start
Boot the client, at ok prompt:
ok boot net
once again thanks to all who responded to me immediately.
Best Regards,
Shravana Kumar.
