Marc has suggested the JNI FC1063 card, which they use for FC connectivity.

No info on the OEM X6729A though. I will go for the Qlogic card, that
makes at least IBM happy.

Hi,
it seems I'm going to attach an IBM ESS (Shark) F20 to our Sun servers
on optic FC. IBM recommends the QLogic QLA2100F FC adapter
(http://www.qlogic.com/products/qla2100.html) for this.
AFAIK Sun OEMs this card as X6729A and I prefer buying Sun parts
if possible, but I'd like to confirm this.
Does someone has a Shark attached with FC ? With what adapter ?
I'd also be grateful for any other experience with the ESS.
