First of all thank you to Jeff Woolsey, Kevin M. Korb, Deepak Wilson,
Vjay Lescoe, Pete Durst and others who responded.
General consensus is the last official Sun support for the SBus Prestoserve
was in Solaris 2.5.x, and according the 2.5.1 manual that I have, the
product was unbundled then.
According to Kevin M. Korb , "It only helps NFS v2 so Sun decided it wasn't
needed anymore when they came out with NFS v3."
Anyway, Jeff Woolsey stated that he has the SIMM Prestoserve running
perfectly on his SS10 under Solaris 7:
folderol# presto -v
presto: open `/dev/pr0'
presto: PRGETSTATUS ok
dirty = 241, clean = 12, inval = 2, active = 0
count hit rate clean hits dirty hits allocations
passes
write: 60801 16% 6 9866 32715
18214
read: 88200 0% 1 604 0
87595
total: 149001 7% 7 10470 32715
105809
presto: PRGETSTATUS ok
state = UP, size = 0x200000 bytes
statistics interval: 1 day, 00:39:18 (88758 seconds)
write cache efficiency: 23%
All 1 batteries are ok
folderol# uname -a
SunOS folderol 5.7 Generic sun4m sparc SUNW,SPARCstation-10
And he kind enough to test out the SBUS Prestoserve in a spare SPARC of his:
horsefeathers 132: presto -v
presto: open `/dev/pr0'
presto: PRGETSTATUS ok
dirty = 11, clean = 0, inval = 116, active = 0
count hit rate clean hits dirty hits allocations
passes
write: 100 28% 0 28 11
61
read: 34 8% 0 3 0
31
total: 134 23% 0 31 11
92
presto: PRGETSTATUS ok
state = UP, size = 0xfff80 bytes
statistics interval: 00:01:18 (78 seconds)
write cache efficiency: 72%
All 2 batteries are ok
horsefeathers 133: uname -a
SunOS horsefeathers 5.7 Generic sun4c sparc SUNW,Sun_4_75
And the driver he is using is version 2.4.1 and with patch 100999-22.
Thanks again for all that responded.
Cheers,
