SUMMARY: Mailproblem with sendmail and netscape mailtool

Hi all,

   my problem was i have installed Patch 105465-02 on a SS10 running with
   SunOS 4.1.3_U1. This patch chance sendmail to version 8.6.
   This host is our mail gateway.
   All our clients are running Solaris 2.5.1.

   The normal Sun mailtool (on the 2.5.1 clients) is working and can send email.
   But the Netscape browser mail feature can't send any mails now.
   You see this error message:
   "Netscape was unable to connect to the SMTP server."

Well i found no solution for sendmail 8.6. So i compiled sendmail 8.9.3
and tried again. This works! (Of course, there are now some problems
with sendmail.cf.... )

I got some hints to look for timing and/or protocol problems. May be,
there i can find the reason for the problems of Suns sendmail 8.6 (but
i don't have enough knowhow to find something ...).
