The answer is the default behavior for Sun systems is that all
interfaces will have the same mac address unless
you set
local-mac-address?=true
in the eeprom and reboot.
In regards to the instance number , they are per driver so you can have
two instance 0.
I ran ifconfig and brought up the trunk and all appears okay, however a
snoop on hme0 still shows packets bound for qfe0 trunk and vice-versa,
hence my confusion that I had actually configured my trunk head with
hme0 and not qfe0. This may be due to the interfaces have the same mac
address-guess I'll take a look at the snoop man pages a little more
closely.
