As it was my /dev/rmt/0 was not a tape drive and the link had been broken.
I did
a rm /dev/rmt/* and then a boot -r and that fixed everything for me.

ORIGINAL QUESTION:
This is the command I'm using to backup over the network:
ufsdump 0ucf machine-test:/dev/rmt/0 /dev/rdsk/c0t3d0s3
and what it's doing is creating a file on machine test (A data file which
contain my backup)
I was very surprise with this as I was expecting the data to be on my tape
drive.
I guess that is the reason why I never heard the tape drive spining.
So if I cd to /dev/rmt and do an "ls" I could see the backup file name "0"
there.
How can I get what I want? to be able to backup to tape device /dev/rmt/0.
I had already done a boot -r

I can use "ufsdump" or "tar" to download file to my tape drive and I can
also
retrieve the files.
My problem: if I type: "mt -f /dev/rmt/0 status" then I get the fallowing
message:
mt: Innappropriate ioctl for device
the same thing if I type in: "mt rewind" to rewind the tape I get back
/dev/rmt/0 rewind 1 failed: Innappropriate ioctl for device
I can not use the mt command which is very important as I have a need of
rewinding
the tape and getting the tape offline after backup is finished.
Your comments will be very appreciated.
